Condover 2016

What a week! Our children have conquered fears, worked together, tried new things and have generally been brilliant for their week away at Condover. As ever, staff at Condover, as well as staff from other schools, were full of compliments about our children which makes us enormously proud.

Thank you all – get some rest this weekend!

May Procession Invite

The children have been busy practising for Friday’s May Procession. Parents, friends and family are all invited to attend. We will gather together on the infant playground at 1.15pm.

Condover 2015

Last week the year 6 children visited Condover Hall, just outside Shrewsbury. During the four days, they were able to experience climbing, abseiling, problem-solving, fire-making, archery and much much more.

It was a brilliant residential and one that the staff really enjoyed. The children were so enthusiastic about everything they did, supported one another and were well-behaved throughout. We lost count of how many people gave the children a compliment, be it for their manners, their enthusiasm or just generally being lovely.

We were delighted that the children had such a brilliant time and would like to thank them for making a week away so enjoyable.

Condover meeting

Please see the notes from our Condover meeting below. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Code Club at the Roundhouse

On Tuesday 30th June, Derby’s famous Roundhouse played host to the East Midlands Big Bang Fair, an event that promoted learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

As we have been running a successful Code Club for around two years, our children were invited to attend to speak in front of an audience, as well as show off some of the projects they had made. This was quite an achievement for both the school and the pupils involved, as they were showcasing what Code Club was about as well as showing how well it has been organised by our volunteer, Mr Brown.

Below are some pictures of the children presenting and sharing their learning, as well as when they attended some of the other stands at the fair.

Well done and thank you to all of the children, as well as Katharine for inviting us, and Mr Brown for being our Code Club volunteer for two years!

Sharing Code Club with the Army!

Upper Juniors’ Visit to the Upper Derwent Valley

Y5/6 Cromford Visit

Last Wednesday, the Upper Juniors spent a beautifully sunny day exploring the historical village of Cromford in Derbyshire.

We learnt about Richard Arkwright’s incredible feats of engineering; how he built Cromford for his workers; who used to work at the mills (and what they used to drink!) as well as visiting the grounds of Willersley Castle.

We had a fantastic day and would like to say a huge thank you to the volunteers at the Cromford Mills, who made us feel welcome and shared so much knowledge with us.

Condover 2014

Dovedale with Y6

A sweltering Dovedale welcomed our wonderful year 6 children today. We walked around, got hot, ate, cooled down, walked around again until the final, ultimate destination of the world’s biggest ice-cream.

It was lovely to be outdoors with such lovely people.

BETT visit

On Friday 24th January, our year 6 digital leaders travelled to London to the BETT exhibition. They were able to see the latest technology in education, as well as try out dancing, filming and control. Their list for Mrs Churchill was a short but expensive one!

The children behaved brilliantly and enjoyed a brief but exciting visit to the capital.
